Privacy Policy

What data we ask for, what we use it for, how long we keep it and how to ask us to delete it.

Who handles your data

Macarena Larraín is the data controller: she decides what is requested and for what purpose. Webiados SpA develops and maintains the site, and is the data processor, handling that data solely on her instructions.

For anything related to your data, write to mlarrain@42kdeperseverancia.cl.

What data we ask for, and only that

If you request a talk: your name, email, organization and —if you want— job title and phone number. Plus the event details: topic, format, date, duration, estimated attendance, and the venue when it's in person.

If you subscribe to the newsletter: only your email.

We don't ask for a national ID number, home address, health data, or anything else that isn't needed to respond to you.

What we use it for

The data from a request is used to reply to you and coordinate that talk. Nothing else: it's not used to send you advertising, and it's not cross-referenced with the newsletter list.

Your newsletter email is used only to send you the newsletter. When you subscribe you get a confirmation email, and you're not added to the list until you click the link: that way no one can sign you up without you knowing.

Who we share it with

With no one who isn't necessary for the site to work:

  • Neon — the database where requests are stored.
  • Cloudflare — the site's images and the form's anti-spam check.
  • Resend — sending the confirmation emails.
  • Mailchimp — the newsletter list, if you subscribed.
  • Vercel — where the site is hosted.

We don't sell data or share it with third parties for commercial purposes. We also don't use advertising tools or cross-site tracking.

Your data leaves Chile, and we want you to know that

None of the services we use are located in Chile. Here is what we use, and where:

  • Brazil (São Paulo) — the database where your request is stored (Neon) and the service that sends the emails (Resend).
  • United States — the newsletter list (Mailchimp) and the site's hosting (Vercel).
  • No fixed country — the images and the anti-spam check (Cloudflare), which are served from the network location closest to the visitor.

All of them are service providers that process the data on our behalf, under contract, with no permission to use it for anything else. Even so, you have the right to know that your data leaves the country, and that's why it's written here.

How long we keep it

Talk requests are kept for 2 years counted from when we receive them, and then deleted. That period covers the full cycle: an organization that inquired one season often writes again the next, and keeping the history avoids asking you for the same data twice.

Your newsletter email is kept until you unsubscribe. Every message includes a link to do so in one click, no explanations or paperwork needed.

And at any time, without waiting for those periods, you can ask us to delete your data and we will delete it.

What you can ask of us

Law 21.719 (Chile's data protection law) gives you these rights over your own data. You can exercise them at any time, free of charge, and without explaining why:

  • Access — for us to tell you what data of yours we hold, where it came from and what we do with it.
  • Rectification — for us to correct anything that's wrong or incomplete.
  • Erasure — for us to delete it.
  • Objection — for us to stop using it for something specific, even if we keep it for everything else.
  • Portability — for us to give you your data in a file you can take elsewhere.
  • Temporary blocking — for us to stop using it while we resolve one of the requests above.

How to request it: write to mlarrain@42kdeperseverancia.cl. No formal wording is needed: just say what you want and which email you made the request from, so we can find it.

How quickly we respond: we resolve requests within 30 business days. If the case warrants it, the law allows extending that period once, for another 30 business days; if that happens, we'll let you know beforehand and explain why. A temporary blocking request is resolved faster: 2 business days.

If for some reason we can't do what you're asking, we'll explain why. And if you're not satisfied with our response, you can file a complaint with the Agencia de Protección de Datos Personales (APDP, Chile's data protection authority).

Cookies

This site doesn't use advertising or analytics cookies.

There are two technical exceptions: the form's anti-spam check sets a Cloudflare cookie to verify you're not a robot, and YouTube videos set their own only once you press play — they're set to the mode that doesn't track before that.
